Terms of service
Last updated
These are the terms for using Hime: the iOS app, the web app at app.hime.ai, the hime command-line tool, and the services behind them. Hime is operated by Hime Group, LLC, a US company (“Hime,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using Hime, you agree to these terms.
If you don’t agree, don’t use Hime.
1. What Hime is
Hime is a personal planner: a workspace of tasks, events, notes, bookmarks and files, organized into a Backlog, a Today view, and a Library of folders and Projects. You can use Hime by yourself, or connect your own AI agents to work in your workspace alongside you.
We run the servers. Your account’s data lives in our database, except for your credential vault, which is end-to-end encrypted. See section 5.
2. Who can use Hime
You must be at least 13 years old to create a Hime account. If you’re using Hime on behalf of a company or other organization, you’re confirming you have the authority to agree to these terms for that organization, and “you” in these terms means both you and the organization.
3. Your account
A Hime account is identified by a verified email address. You sign in with a 6-digit code sent to that email, or, for older accounts, with a twelve-word recovery phrase.
You’re responsible for:
- keeping your recovery phrase and any signed-in devices secure
- everything that happens under your account, including anything done by an agent you’ve connected
- giving us an email address you actually control, since it’s how we reach you about your account and this service
Keep your recovery phrase somewhere safe. We explain why in section 5.
4. Plans
Hime offers two paid plans, Plus and Pro. Without a plan, Hime is a task tracker on your phone. Plus lets you connect your own AI agents through the Hime CLI, and includes the web app. Pro adds a hosted agent sandbox, agent chat, desktop access, and voice features using your own model provider account.
Prices, automatic renewal, cancellation, and sandbox retention are described in the Subscription Terms. The price and applicable taxes are shown before purchase.
5. Your data and the credential vault
Your tasks, events, notes, bookmarks and files are stored on our servers so they can sync across your devices and be available to agents you connect.
Hime also includes a credential vault for storing sensitive information your agents may need, such as API keys. The vault is end-to-end encrypted: we don’t have the key, and we cannot read its contents or recover them for you.
This has a real consequence. If you lose every device you’re signed in to, and you’ve also lost your recovery phrase, the contents of your vault are gone permanently. We cannot restore them. There is no support ticket that fixes this. Store your recovery phrase somewhere durable and separate from your devices.
6. Agents
Hime lets you connect your own AI agent on a machine you control. Pro also offers a hosted sandbox on infrastructure we operate. You connect your own model provider account; that provider may charge separately for its services.
A few things follow from this that we want to be direct about.
- You bring the agent, and the authority behind it. When you connect an agent, it acts inside your workspace with your authority, the same as if you’d taken the action yourself. The agent is doing things because you told it, or allowed it, to.
- We don’t supply the model. We supply no AI model and have no relationship with whatever AI tool or provider you’re using. You’re responsible for that provider’s terms, its behavior, and its cost.
- You’re responsible for what your agent does. If your agent creates, deletes or changes content in your workspace, misbehaves, or does something that violates these terms, that’s on your account, the same as if you’d done it yourself. We may take the same actions against your account, described in section 7, whether a human or an agent caused the problem.
If you’re not comfortable with an agent acting under your authority, don’t connect one.
7. Acceptable use
Don’t use Hime to:
- store, share or generate illegal content
- attack, harass, or gain unauthorized access to other people’s systems or accounts
- resell Hime or any part of the service without our written permission
- abuse our storage as a bulk file-hosting or backup service through automated or bulk-created accounts
If you violate these terms, we may suspend or terminate your account. We’ll try to warn you first where the issue isn’t urgent, but we don’t have to in every case, particularly for anything illegal or actively harmful to others.
8. Availability
Hime is an early-stage product, and we run the servers ourselves. We don’t guarantee any particular level of uptime. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, and in rare cases the whole service, with as much notice as we can reasonably give.
We provide Hime “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don’t warrant that Hime will be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent allowed by law, Hime Group, LLC won’t be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising from your use of Hime.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of Hime is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. If you haven’t paid us anything, our liability is limited to fifty US dollars ($50).
Some jurisdictions don’t allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims, damages and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your violation of these terms, your misuse of Hime, or actions taken by an agent you connected, except to the extent caused by our own negligence or willful misconduct.
11. Termination
You can stop using Hime and delete your account at any time from within the app, or from our delete account page. When you do, we purge your account’s data 30 days later. If you sign back in before then, the deletion is cancelled and your account is restored.
We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these terms, for extended inactivity, or if we discontinue the service, with notice where reasonably possible.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including sections 5, 8, 9, 10 and 13, continue to apply after your account is closed.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Hime changes. If we make a material change, we’ll notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Hime after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of Hime will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
